Fall is here! Time for hay rides, pumpkin patches, apple picking and more. The changing of seasons is a wonderful time of year, but it also makes roadways slightly more difficult to navigate. Three-C Body Shop wants you to stay as safe as possible on the road with the following tips!

Do not brake on leaves. Wet leaves can be just as slippery as ice depending on the temperature and the amount of precipitation on leaves. Drive through them slowly and avoid hard breaking. Leaves may obscure lane lines and other road markers, so pay attention to the edge lines and ensure you stay in your lane.

Avoid sun glare. The sun is rising later and setting earlier, so chances are that could be interfering with your morning commute or evening errands. The first 15 to 45 minute after sunrise and before sunset can make driving more difficult because of the glare. The sun perfectly aligns with east/west roadways during this time. Keep a good pair of sunglasses in your car and use your visor when appropriate to help your vision on the roadways.

Be cautious in the rain. Fall usually brings an increase in rainfall. When you are driving make sure to allow plenty of distance between you and other cars. If you need to come to a quick stop, the chances of hydroplaning are more likely in the rain so you want to have plenty of space around your car. Don’t forget to keep your lights on and drive with caution when it is raining.

Be careful on bridges. Remember that bridges freeze before other parts of the road. As the temperatures begin to drop, slow down on bridges and shaded spots on the road.

Watch out for deer. The fall is mating season for deer, therefore they are covering a large amount of ground when they are out during the day. Deer are most active during sunset and sunrise so be on the lookout especially during those hours for deer near the roadway or crossing the road.

Three-C Body Shop wishes you a safe fall season.
